MCCA honors Crowder Students

Columbia, MO – Three students from Crowder College were honored last month at the Missouri Community College Association awards ceremony Stephens College in Columbia, MO.

Honored for their academic performance were Nastasia Neier (Bentonville, AR) and Heather Wininger North (Joplin). North was named 2nd team in the Phi Theta Kappa All-Missouri listings while Neier was named 1st team and was selected to represent the state of Missouri as the 2019 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar. Over 2,000 students were nominated from more than 1,200 colleges across the country. Neier was recognized at the PTK Presidents Breakfast in Orlando, FL, on April 15 during the AACC convention.

Carlos Palestino (Springdale, AR) was awarded the MCCA Student Leadership award. His recommendation came from College Assistance Migrant Program Director, Lisa O’Hanahan. According to the submission by O’Hanahan, Carlos has become a very active leader among his peers at the college. His heart is one of a servant leader and he leads by example.

Palestino was also one of two students representing Crowder College at the 2019 Governor’s Student Leadership Forum on Faith and Values this past January.
