Crowder Nursing Receives Education Incentive Grant

Neosho, MO – The Crowder College Nursing Division has been named a 2019 recipient of the Nursing Education Incentive Program Grant by the Missouri State Board of Nursing in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education, in the amount of $77,461.74.

The grant will be used to create a unique opportunity for nursing students in clinical practice. The funds will be used to establish a new clinical partnership model where students would work for the hospital during clinical rotations. The idea was developed from a similar program in the state of Nevada.

A pilot for the program will start in the fall 2019 semester with expansion to other clinical sites set for early 2020. The funding will allow Crowder to develop the model, begin delivery, and provide strong support the first year of the program.

“Crowder College’s Nursing Division looks forward to working with area healthcare institutions to develop new clinical partnership models. This will create a win-win for students providing financial support and the healthcare facilities by strengthening employee skills and decreasing orientation time upon graduation,” stated Sandra Wilson, Director of Nursing.

Crowder College offers an Associate degree in Nursing (RN) at Neosho, Cassville, McDonald County, and Nevada. This fall, Crowder will begin sponsoring a Practical Nurse (PN) program at the Nevada campus. The Practical Nursing program was previously offered through the Nevada School District.
