

Program Overview
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certificate Program at Crowder College is a 17 credit hour certificate option for students interested in multiple healthcare pathways.
Courses include CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG, and Patient Care Technician, and can be taken individually for certification or stacked together to obtain the PCT Certificate.
The courses are:
CNA 101 – 5 hours
CNA 105 (CNA Clinicals) – 3 hours
ALLH 106 (Phlebotomy) – 3 hours
ALLH 107 (EKG) – 3 hours
ALLH 110 (Patient Care Technician – Course) – 3 hours

Program Acceptance/Requirements
The CMA program is a limited-enrollment program that is capped at specific number of students for each cohort. While the program does not have a required application, there are specific requirements for the program including immunizations, clinical requirements, and more. Please talk to an Advisor or Program Representative to discuss the program requirements before enrolling.

Program Learning Outcomes
Upon Completion of the Patient Care Technician Certificate:
1. Graduates shall be able to effectively communicate with patients of all ages as well as identify non-verbal communication while caring for a patient.
2. Graduates shall be able to properly apply and remove restraints with a physician order and demonstrate how to care for a patient that is combative, while demonstrating proper donning and doffing of PPE.
3. Graduates shall be able to assess vital signs while demonstrating how to safely draw blood, including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and SPO2, while also identifying abnormal vital signs.
4. Graduates shall be able to demonstrate the use of correct abbreviations, medical terminology, and how to properly document in EHR.
How is this Program Offered?
Most courses are offered in a traditional course setting, with lectures and skills performed in class and in lab settings. Clinical requirements vary by course. Some courses have a hybrid option to complete lecture coursework online.
