CROWDER COLLEGE Privacy Policy
Effective Date: November 2021
Purpose: To detail the practices regarding personal information provided to Crowder College by the public. This policy will describe practices regarding:
- the collection, use, sharing, storage, and processing of personal data.
- security procedures implemented to protect personal data.
- individual’s rights regarding the use of their personal data.
Policy:
Crowder College is committed to safeguarding personal information entrusted to the College by the public.
Collection and Protection of Information
Information collected, regardless of the method of collection or format, may be used only to carry out the authorized business of Crowder College. The College shall make reasonable efforts to limit the personal information it collects to only that information strictly relevant to accomplish a clearly defined institutional purpose. Crowder College has access to data voluntarily provided via email, telephone, forms, chat functions, user registration, sign-ups, contests, surveys, and other means.
Crowder has appointed a Data Protection Officer to assist with questions, requests, and complaints regarding this privacy notice and the collection and processing of personal data. For more details, see the Contact Information section of this notice.
All employees are responsible for maintaining confidentiality and data integrity of data collected by the College. Crowder College will grant the minimum access to personal information required to accomplish the College’s purpose to individuals within each department. All employees are required to abide by all state and federal laws such as FERPA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and HIPPA regarding the handling and protection of Personal Information.
Any employee who becomes aware of a potential personal data security breach threatening the privacy or security of personal information in the care of Crowder College, must report the breach immediately to the Information Services Division and the Data Protection Officer. The Data Protection Officer will notify legal counsel, law enforcement, and users as required.
Disclosure of Personal Information: Crowder College may release personal information as required by state and federal law upon receipt of applicable search warrants or subpoenas. Additional information in regard to disclosure of student information can be found in the Information Disclosure Policy of the Student Handbook.
Audience: All members of the Crowder College community in their processing of data, information and records in any form (paper, digital, etc.) created, collected, accessed, stored, or disposed of as a result of College operations.
