Open Enrollment for Summer/Fall 26 is now open!

Chemistry

  • Chemistry

Instruction in the Physical Sciences is offered in the areas of chemistry, physics, geology and astronomy as the foundation for baccalaureate and graduate studies in these and related sciences at a university or four-year college. Physical Science students find employment in industrial research and development, government regulatory agencies, or secondary and post-secondary education. The suggested curriculum that follows assumes a mathematics background that will permit an enrollment in the calculus series as a freshman. If pre-calculus classes are needed, more than four semesters are necessary to complete this program.

Overview of this program in the Catalog

  • The Pre-Medicine program prepares a pathway to transfer to a 4-year university offering a college of medicine.

Crowder College is pleased to share the Rural Health Scholars Program at Kansas City University, Joplin. This unique initiative supports students in their journey to becoming physicians or dentists. Find out more.

Students should consult their advisors, as well as the institution to which they intend to transfer to finish their degree. This will ensure all prerequisite courses will transfer appropriately.

    Suggested Plan of Study

  • The Biology Associate Degree is a two year degree designed to transfer to a four year University.

Biologists are teachers in high school, college, and universities. They also work as conservationists, nutritionists, laboratory technicians, foresters, rangers, sanitarians, marine biologist and geneticist. Their working environment has as much variation as any career filed: classrooms, laboratories, forests, national or state parks, state or municipal offices, agricultural research stations, oceanographic vessels, museums, zoos, green houses, medical laboratories, hospitals, deserts, tropical rain forests, or even the cold of the arctic regions. Biologically related jobs are predicted to increase much faster than most of the job market in the future. With recent advances in genetic research, many new doors are opening for biologist in such areas as medicine synthesizing scarce biological molecules, and finding new food and energy sources.

  • “My future goal is to take what I have learned in this program and apply it to a career in elementary school speech and language pathology.” – Hannah Hillsaback

The state of Missouri is making many changes to both the teacher education program requirements and evaluation of certified teachers. Because of these changes, the information is open to change. Please use this as a general guide to our program requirements. It is a very good practice to check with a Teacher Education advisor every semester as you plan enrollment. It is also wise to contact the Teacher Education program at the university to which you plan to transfer. They can advise you about specific requirements for entry into their programs.

“I chose Crowder College because of the size of the classes and the friendly faces along with the affordability to obtain a degree.” – George Weber

We strive at Crowder to provide you the best preparation opportunity. Although some particular requirements may change, writing and research skills are being stressed, so it would be to your advantage to take courses that will help you strengthen those skills. At the university, your GPA will be calculated several ways. They will look specifically at your education courses, your general education courses, and courses in an academic emphasis area or certification area. Therefore, you must be aware of grades in all subjects. Many schools are looking at 3.0 GPA in each of the areas mentioned.

For degree requirements please refer to our course catalog.
