RE: History Symposium to Welcome Dr. Brooks Blevins
Neosho, MO – Crowder College – The Social Science Division is preparing to start
another History Symposium series of speakers for the Spring Semester. The first speaker,
Dr. Brooks Blevins will take to the podium in April where he will deliver his well-known
presentation “How to Talk Ozark in Seven Simple Steps.”
Dr. Blevins is the Noel Boyd Professor of Ozarks Studies at Missouri State University in
Springfield and was born and raised in rural Arkansas in the heart of the Ozarks. He is
also the author and editor of several books and hosts a bi-weekly podcast titled, “The old
Ozarks.”
“We are very excited to be able to welcome such a prestigious scholar of Ozark history to
our symposium series. We have had the pleasure of welcoming a number of
accomplished scholars over the years, and Dr. Blevins will be an exceptional addition to
the series,” stated Dr. Denna Clymer, Crowder College Social Science Division chair and
instructor. “We hope the community will come join us for a fantastic evening!”
The free event will take place on April 2 at 6pm at the Wright Conference center, located
upstairs inside the Arnold Farber Building at Crowder College Neosho (601 Laclede Ave.,
Neosho, MO 64850).
