RE: Crowder College to Host the History of Hooked Rugs in Missouri Exhibit

Neosho, MO – Crowder College – You may have seen videos on the internet lately, showcasing the fun craft of creating a custom rug with a tufting gun or by hand. But the art of making rugs by hand is nothing new. In fact, there’s a significant history of rug hooking locally!

From now until October 1, visitors to the Crowder College Longwell Museum inside the Elsie Plaster Community Center on the Neosho campus can learn all about this history through an exhibit. “The History of Hooked Rugs in Missouri” exhibit, in partnership with the Neosho Arts Council, offers a look at the intricate craft of rug hooking and the historical elements specific to the Show Me state.

This exhibit is free and open to the public. The Longwell Museum inside the Elsie Plaster Community Center is open from 9 am to 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
