Journalism
The program offers courses in newspaper The Sentry and magazine production The Quill as well as mass communication, public relations, and photography. A broadcasting course was recently added, which is taught by local news celebrity Jim Jackson. Students may graduate with an associates in journalism or public relations.

Journalism graduate Josh King, who is employed at KBTN radio in Neosho, was recently honored by the Missouri Community College Association as sportscaster of the year. Journalists are found in every part of our country. They are working for small and large newspapers, radio, television, and magazine publications.

Crowder offers the basic course work and experience through the school's publications and internships to prepare students for transfer to a four-year college or university.

Public Relations
In public relations, in fields of advertising, in human resource management, and in consulting, key job skills focus on the ability to write and speak effectively. Public relations students learn to write press releases, edit news copy and interview. Hands-on experiences coupled with broad curriculum options enable graduates to forge ahead in the competitive job market of the future.
