Databases at Crowder College

Information:The catalog provides access to library materials at Crowder College Lee Library and shared materials from member libraries of the SouthWest Academic Network (SWAN) Cluster, a smaller cluster of libraries within the larger Missouri Bibliographic Users Information System (MOBIUS) consortium.

Access:

1. SWAN library catalog access is located on links on the main webpage for Crowder College Lee Library.
2. You may choose to search only Crowder College resources, or the entire SWAN catalog.
3. Search functions include author, title, subject, keyword, or Dewey Decimal call numbers.
4. A link on the SWAN catalog provides access to the MOBIUS catalog and all shared resources within the broader MOBIUS consortium.

Academic Search Complete is the world’s most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.

Middle Search Plus

Middle Search Plus provides full text for more than 140 popular, middle school magazines. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles). Full text is also available for thousands of biographies and historical essays. Middle Search Plus also contains 84,774 biographies, 105,786 primary source documents, and a School Image Collection of photos, maps and flags.

Newspaper Source

Newspaper Source provides cover-to-cover full text for more than 40 (U.S.) & international newspapers. The database also contains selective full text for 389 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are also provided.
