Computer Aided Drafting and Design is a two year program which provides a working knowledge of drafting fundamentals for students planning a career in mechanical, structural, electrical, or architectural drafting. This program also provides a sound background for various related construction and manufacturing occupations.
As technology continues to advance, employers will look for drafters having a strong background in fundamental drafting principles with a higher level of technical sophistication and an ability to apply this knowledge to a broader range of responsibilities. DRFT 101, Intro to Engineering Drawing & Print ReadingProvides a foundation for all engineering and technical design courses. Topics include basics of freehand sketching and CAD drafting, and print reading. Includes all principles using section, auxiliary and pictorial views to better describe the product. DRFT 102, Descriptive GeometryProvides entry-level geometry construction techniques for board and AutoCAD Command usage, drawing commands, viewing command and modifying commands. Topics include drawing layouts, 2-dimmensional drawings, editing and viewing commands, drafting practices and standards, file management practices and practical uses of CAD drawings. DRFT 103, Technical DrawingTopics include drawing the different types of fasteners, springs, cams, welding symbols, steel details and basic structural drawing.
