Notice of Sale – Solar House

NOTICE OF SALE/ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Crowder College (CC) is now accepting sealed bids for the sale of a solar house (House) which was constructed and entered in the 2015 Solar Decathlon held in Irvine, CA.

Minimum Opening bid: $100,000

Bids Due/Opened: Sealed bids are due by 12:00 pm/noon on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 and will be opened at 1:30 p.m. at the Foundation Office with the winning bidder immediately notified by phone.

Terms and Conditions of Sale:  Sale will conducted by sealed bid. The House will be sold as is, where is, free and clear of any liens or encumbrances.  CC makes no representations and/or warranties as to energy production or consumption, or ability to withstand elements of nature. The House is comprised of two rectangular units, when joined creates an approximately 973-square-foot, two bedroom house. Buyer is responsible for any costs and arrangements in connection with moving the House, including, but not limited to, pickup and delivery, joining the units together, reconstruction and/or setup.  Buyer’s removal of the House is to be completed on or before June 15, 2017.

Description of Property:  The House is comprised of two rectangular units, when joined creates an approximately 973-square-foot, two bedroom house. The multi-layered wall and window systems can bolster the house against storms but CC makes no representations and/or warranties against any elements of nature. The House can be enlarged and made permanent by setting it on a sturdy concrete foundation, separating the two units and building a strong roof between them. The roof and flooring system will be included with the sale of the House.

The House produces its own energy and was designed with the capability to run entirely off the grid. The House is designed to run a small water heater, central air conditioning, several lights, a computer, TV, and a refrigerator while only using 9 of the 10kWs. Solar panels are brand new and will be available at date of pickup unless other arrangements are made in advance.

The solar array for the House is comprised of 34 Sunpower 335W solar modules which equates to 8.8kW solar array.  The inverters used are 3 SMA Sunnyboy inverters, fitted with 120 volt power outlets that can still provide 3000 watts of power in the event of a grid power loss.  These grid-tied inverters were placed in a structure with provided space for future battery backup capabilities.  In summary, the solar array is large enough to not only provide enough energy for the House but also other homes and buildings in the area. CC makes no representations or warranties as to production or consumption of energy.

Inspection of Property: House will be available for inspection, by arrangement, from the hours of 1 to 5pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Crowder College, 601 Laclede Avenue, Neosho, MO  64850.  Please email Foundation@crowder.edu or call 417-455-5646 to schedule a walk-around.
